Findley Lake American Idol Contest 2010

Rules & Regulations

Applications:

Only the first (40) applications received by September 1, 2010 will be accepted into the competition.  Applicants must be at least 16 years of age, and may be amateur or professional.  Duets are also accepted, but no more than two on stage per group.  Applications must be completely filled out and signed.  All applications can be mailed to FL Chamber; C/O Jeff Horner, PO Box 211; Findley Lake, NY  14736 or email to jhorner2009@gmail.com.   If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to call me at 814-397-4461.

Tryouts: 

First round starts at 5:30 pm on Friday, Sept. 3 with all 40 contestants.  Each contestant will sing 90 seconds of the song of their choice.  If our DJ supplies the background music, it will be the first 90 seconds of the background track.  The field of 40 original contestants will be narrowed down to 10 semi-finalists.  Semi-finalists will be chosen 15 minutes after the first round is completed.

Second Round:

Starts at 4:00 pm on Saturday, Sept. 4.  The 10 semi-finalists from Friday will sing two songs of their choice.  The 10 Semi-finalists will be narrowed down to just 3 finalists.  The top 3 finalists will be announced 30 minutes after the second round is completed.

Final Round:

Final Round starts at 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 5.  The Final three chosen from the day before will perform 2 full songs of their choice.  The winner will be announced 30 minutes after the final round has been completed.

The Songs: 

All songs must first be approved by the Findley Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.  No changes to the song selections will be allowed.  If the contestant prefers, he/she may play an instrument instead of using the DJ.  If the contestant is performing original music, a copy of each song must accompany the application.

Judging: 

Contestants will be judged on talent, originality, and stage presence.  There will be three impartial judges from the local area.  On Sunday the audience, using voting cards supplied at the event, will also be a judge.

Prizes:  Grand Prize- $1,000.00 sponsored by:   Findley Lake Marine & Market.

                  Second Prize- $250.00 sponsored by:     Our Own Candle Company

                  Third Prize - $100.00 sponsored by:      Horner’s Cottage Rental
