From the shopkeepers in our Victorian downtown to the grape farmers in the township, everyone who lives in the North East area is proud to be a part of a community that works. And the North East. Area Chamber of Commerce is the single most effective organization committed to working for the future of North East. Our Chamber currently represents more than 260 businesses and individuals dedicated to promoting a healthy local economy and a higher quality of life for our area.
Today there are nine thriving wineries, thousands of acres of vineyards. and the home of Welch's Grape Juice which sells products in more than 35 countries and territories around the world. Grapes are not only a major industry here, but a source of identity for residents and of great beauty for everyone.
Agriculture is a big part of North East. The cherry crop is celebrated each July with our annual Cherry Festival which is July 12-16 .

During the fall, the smell of sweet grapes ripening on vines mingles with the scent of apples, pcaches and pears from the many orchards in the community. This year venture to North East on September 23, 24, 25 for our 30th Wine FestivaJ and .smell the grapes in the air.
North East public school sports teams have embraced this agricultural heritage: they are known as the North East Grapepickers.  www.nesdl.org
There are other advantages to North East’s location. It is relatively close to three major cities: about 80 miles west of Buffalo and Niagara Falls, 180 miles North of Pittsburgh, 120 miles east of Cleveland; and closer to home, 16 miles east of Erie.
It is also close to a major- regional ski resort in New York: Peek ‘n Peak, about fifteen miles southeast of Nortb East.
Another asset: Lake Erie. A marina with 220 dock slips is operated on Route 5. east of the borough, providing public and private access to Lake Eric. This is the only protected port between Erie and Barcelona, NY.

If you are a new resident or a visitor, we bid you welcome.
